3 Things Missing From a Lot of “Great” Web Designs

in on

When you’re in the business of Calgary business web design, you tend to look at website launches differently. It’s probably no surprise, then, that from time to time we see businesses and agencies launch “great” new websites that don’t quite live up to the billing.

In most cases, what the business or marketer is excited about amounts to a flashy layout or some exciting art. Even when a new website looks fantastic, however, there can be a few important things missing. Here are three that are especially critical:

The client’s brand. For a business website to be great, it doesn’t just have to look good – it also has to look like something that goes along with your company’s mission, USP, and prior marketing. In other words, it has to be tailored to your company. A generically beautiful website doesn’t help your company or brand in the long term.

Marketing functionality. In the same way, the best-looking pages can’t do much for you if no one finds them, or if customers don’t have a way to interact with you once they arrive. Your website should be part of your marketing plan, not a standalone piece of art that doesn’t drive results.

Strong . Good visuals attract interest and build credibility, but strong messaging is what convinces buyers to take the next step. Having easy-to-spot typos or boring text on your website ruins the effect you created with a good visual layout. Make sure you pay some attention to what your pages say, not just the way they look.

Don’t make the classic mistake of confusing pretty web design with Internet marketing effectiveness. Both are important, of course, but if your new website is missing a lot of the essentials, it doesn’t really matter how it looks because buyers aren’t going to pay attention.
